R Kelly was placed under arrest and spent three nights in the Cook County jail for owing more than $161,000 in back child support. He was released on Saturday after friends and family paid the money for him, and on Wednesday he headed back to court to get his $21,000 monthly child support payments reduced.
The singer claimed since he isn’t working and bringing in income, it’s hard for him to make the payments.
“If you can’t play a show, if you can’t go out on tour, if they’re not streaming your music anymore, obviously you’re going to have financial problems. You don’t need to be a rocket scientist to figure that out,” His attorney – Steve Greenberg
His publicists says the singer has no assets to sell not even his Trump Tower, because he’s renting the condo, and paid rent in advance several years ago. He allegedly can’t even afford his lawyers, and they’re representing him for free.
Anyway, the judge said nah, and Kelly’s child support payments will remain the same.
