The transgender mistress of legendary R&B singer Teddy Pendergrass, Tenika Watson, told Oprah Winfrey that rumors of her giving the deceased singer oral sex in his Bentley leading up to the accident are false.
Back in 1982, Teddy Pendergrass crashed his Rolls Royce into a tree causing the singer to be paralyzed from the waist down. The passenger in his car that night was the transgender showgirl, Tenika Watson.
Here’s what the Huffington Post reports:
“They met at a popular club in Philadelphia, where Watson was working as a nightclub entertainer and model. The two struck up a conversation and when Watson said it was time to go home, Pendergrass offered her a ride.”
Here’s what Tenika Watson said:
“First, the car started speeding up really fast, and I was wondering, ‘Was he driving fast?’ but he wasn’t. It was out of control. Then I notice he was struggling with the wheel, and all of a sudden I heard this great big bang. Next thing I know the press was there.
I went to the hospital where he was and there was this woman there. She said ‘Well, you’re not going to see him before his son does.’ and she caused a big scene. I just left.
I don’t think Teddy knew about my transition at all and my multiple arrests for prostitution. The hardest thing for me to read was for them to insinuate that there was a sex act going on. There wasn’t.”
