Hollywood Street King has uncovered court records showing that Deon Taylor, Roxanne Avent-Taylor and Hidden Empire Holdings were ordered to pay their former attorneys $196,325.92.
Sanders Roberts LLP was hired in 2022 to represent the Taylors during a nearly four-year legal battle against a former business associate and his company.
Now the lawyers are coming after their own clients.
The final arbitration award includes $157,797.91 in unpaid legal bills, $32,493.01 in interest and $6,035 in arbitration costs.
But here is the real kicker: the arbitrator says the Taylors and Hidden Empire never responded to the claim, filed no counterclaims, submitted no opposition and did not participate in any part of the arbitration.
They apparently hired lawyers for years—then disappeared when those lawyers wanted to be paid.
Sanders Roberts also obtained an after-hearing writ authorizing attachment of up to $157,797.91 in Hidden Empire Holdings assets, including bank accounts, receivables, equipment and other property.
The firm is now asking a Los Angeles judge to confirm the arbitration award and convert it into an enforceable judgment against Hidden Empire Holdings and the Taylors personally.
Meanwhile, much of the company’s recent publicity has centered on Hidden Empire Sports Collective. Is that simply a new division—or an attempt to place fresh business under a different banner while Hidden Empire Holdings faces collection?
The public record does not answer that question yet.
But the timing is worth watching.
