John Singleton Slams Movie-Makers Behind Tupac Biopic

Tupac Biopic Cursed

John Singleton says he’s got a big problem with the way the Tupac biopic is being packaged! And that’s not all! According to the ‘Boyz In The Hood’ director, if Tupac were alive today, the rap legend would be boycotting the film!

“If Tupac knew what was going on he’d ride on all these fools and take it to the streets!” ~ John Singleton

Singleton recently took to IG to put that word on blast. Just ask Carl Franklin. For those of you who may not already know … Franklin is the film director who Morgan Creek Pictures brought on board to replace Singleton, who had replaced Antoine Fuqua, and fill the director’s seat on the Tupac set.

Check out John Singleton’s message:

“Real talk! The reason I am not making this picture is because the people involved aren’t really respectful of the legacy of Tupac Amaru Shakur. I won’t say much if you want you can read my articles in Hollywood Reporter on authenticity in Black Storytelling … To Pac’s real fans just know I am still planning a movie on Tupac … It doesn’t matter what they do mines will be better… Tupac was much more than a hip hop artist … He was a black man guided by his passions … Of most importance was his love of black people and culture … Something the people involved in this movie know nothing about… Real talk! How you gonna make a movie about a man when you suing his mother to get the rights to tell his story?! They have no true love 4 Pac so this movie will not be made with love! And that’s why my ass isn’t involved ! If Tupac knew what was going on he’d ride on all these fools and take it to the streets… But I won’t do that … I’ll just make my own project. What Yall think about that?!!

  1. Wasn’t it reported on this site that Jay Z supposedly purchased the rights to Pac’s music. Maybe they are all behind trying to destroy the legacy of Pac.

I’m a bit confused about something. Wasn’t Pac mother being sued to get the rights to do this movie while Singleton was directing? If so, he didn’t have a problem until he was replaced.

Even in death, someone is trying really hard to destroy Pac.

    • Freddie you are correct about everything. Like U, I am confused too. How in the hell these folks can sue Ms. Afeni about her son’s legacy? According to the will, she is over all of her son’s legacy. Freddie, Me and U are going to be some confused folks today.

    • Why in the f*ck won’t these ppl leave our black icons stories alone! All they seem to do is f*ckem up, so they can look bad! I grew up on Mike, Whitney, PAC and Aaliayah so I arready know their contributions all the other shit was personal, they never knew about my personal life so I needed to stay out of theirs.

      • You are quite naive. BM sell each other out for pennies slavery started with BM selling other Blacks.

    • This might help with your confusion.

But I trippin because this is some messy ish, like ratchet ghetto gossip. If he is goingt to do his own biopic and it will be better than theirs, then do it. He is acting real up in his feelings right now. And dude if Tupac wax alive, he wouldn’t have anything to boycott because the only reason it’s being done is because he is not living. If he was alive the project would be dead, no pun intended.

      • Thanks for the info Eddie. I am still wondering why Jay-Z, Beyoncé, and definitely Drake asses on this album? Hell, back in the day, Jay-Z and Biggie was dissing Pac on Brooklyn’s Finest. Now here it is 2 decades later, Jay-Z wannabe on a Pac record? GTFOH! Beyoncé 50/50, but we all know she gonna want all credit but that shit ain’t gonna work, not by four people. Ms. Afeni, Entertainment One, Jada Pinkett Smith, and Keyshia Cole. You probably wonder why I mentioned Jada and Keyshia right? Jada knows Pac real good and can tell U what is his work and what is not. Plus, the were childhood buddies. Keyshia was brought into the game by Pac. Like Jada, knows Pac’s style, flow, and sound. Also, Ms. Afeni know both of these women very well. She pretty can trust these two ladies and know Pac’s music better than anyone.

        • Oh I forgot Drake sweet ass. He already f*cked up Aaliyah’s unreleased song Enough Said. Keep his red ass away unreleased material from deceased artist. Point blank and simple

        • the outlkawz was there too.

          big syke was there, mopreme.

in the deathrow period johnny j’s not here anymore but dj quik, and daz is still with us and they can tell us lots of info on lots of unreleased tracks since they cam,e up with a lot of beats, kurupt, and snoop can add theoir two cents in too.

shock g has lots of info on pac.

spice 1 can tell a few stories too since him, pac, and kokanee recorded fame together and as soon aS FAME WAS RECORDED PAC WENT TO VEGAS.

          • Daz has almost an entire album of unreleased music of him and 2Pac that he’s been sitting on for many years.

            • heard those tracks the makaveli and Dillinger ep.

you can hear them as they were made on youtube.

        • Yeah, I know Keisha Cole was cool with Tupac, I saw that some where back in 05 when she dropped her first song, the on that sounded like she was yodeling, so I’m with you DR1, I know you are up on thaings. And speaking of up on thaings, I see where BA mentioned Daz, I got respect for Daz because Daz was the only one to tell Suge to f*ck off and called him a big punk, and talked about taking a half mil from Suge. Suge never ran his big mouth about that, like he did about Dre and other people vanilla ice. I think Suges won’t say too much about Daz because Daz is suppose to be a crip. I’m been trying to figure out how You get a bunch of crips on a label run by a blood, that’s a mystery to me.

          • because there was money to be made.

blue and red can come together and make green.

lots of enemies have united if there was millions to be made.

  2. R.I.P. Tupac, hopefully a real, honest Biopic will be made on this GREAT Man some day

  3. In putting our black heroes and heroines on the big screen, qualified black directors need to direct those films. As much as a white director may try they will never understand our plight as a black one does. You see how they portrayed us in the past (i.e. Birth of a Nation). In Amistad they didn’t have enough scenes when the slaves were killing the captain and the shipmates. Shit the rest of the movie they were still in chains.

I don’t know much about this other director, but John stated it best. We need to do our own projects. Spike Lee had to go thru hell and high water to get X done right. Burn Hollywood Burn!

    • Hollywood = Sodom & Gomorrah. And we know what happened to S&G.

  4. By the time this movie will be made Tupac will be played by a white guy in blackface and Eminem will be considered the all time greatest rapper.

  5. carl franklin been around a long time years before singleton stepped in the game HE HAS A PRETTY GOOD RESUME.

CARL FRANKLIN MIGHT Actually do a good job.

    hope he does it justice.

    • He probably wont do a good job even though he is capable
Hollyweird probably got his price and he probably can be bought and will sell out like the rest of them
Why else would they be bringing him aboard?

  6. Carl Franklin is considered a good director.

Singleton is considered a hack who got lucky with Boyz.

  7. But u know the sprites hate any black revolutionary types
So yes, they are going to make Pac look bad

  8. Yeah, drama school boy tupac was great at “taking it to the streets”. Fucking fake ass black wigger got himself killed playing a gangster, nice job invoking that embarrassing piece of history.

Tupac spent a lot of time glorifying destructive “gangsta” shit for the young people, black or white. Fucking moron fake ass person. Fuck that dude.

  9. Afeni be careful… Hopefully, “they”, won’t try to put her to sleep like they did Bobbi Kris. He who protesteth much, seem to go nite-nite. Just sayin’

    • And them mother f*ckers better take a flight-flight, out of this country. just sayin

  10. Hollywood is trying to distort Tupac’s legacy by producing a low budget fraudulent movie. They did the same thing to James Brown and Jimi Hendrix. John Singleton was smart, he could sense the trap. Hollywood producing these terrible, deceptive movies about our heroes and celebrities is one of several ways the government attempts to erase our history. Don’t fall for the trick!

    • Erase? No, more like put a white face to it !! But technology is a advanced and the world is awake !! It’ll never prevail cause everyone will see how much of a fraud white Hollywood is. Look at the new white chick groups trying to sing like sisters and calling Eminem the greatest, an insult. Maybe 2 white America their people that try to sing black music sound God but we know a gifted white soul singer when we hear it. We (African Americans) no where to give credit and this mess that’s being pulled, will fail. Nobody likes a farce/phony/thief and that’s white Hollywood music industry.

All the blacks that signed up have no choice but to go along with the charade cause they sold out. I hope the world be careful with dealing with any parts Of Hollywierd cause, they’ll take their culture.

  11. I hope they do a better job with this movie than Notorious because the casting was all wrong. I think Alfre Woodward should play Pac’s mom, Keith Powers should play Tupac. Persia White from Girlfriends should play Kidada Jones.
